Capvis prepares for the future and expands the partner team

: The Capvis partners would like to inform you about some exciting organizational and personnel changes. In view of the demanding economic environment, and the respective opportunities and challenges in the private equity business we all now face, we have decided to expand and strengthen our team as necessary.

We will strengthen our partner team which has been working successfully together for more than ten years. As of 1st January 2012, Stephan Lauer joined the partner team as Operating Partner. In this capacity, he will support the management teams of our portfolio companies in the development and implementation of measures defined as part of the operational optimization programs. Stephan Lauer has many years of experience in the support of industrial companies.

With great pleasure we also announce today, with effect from the 1st January 2012, the following promotions:

  • Andreas Simon to Partner. With his extended experience in structuring transactions , his focus continues to be on the acquisition process in Germany.
  • Ricarda Demarmels and Boris Zoller to Investment Director.
  • Andreas Blase to Associate Director.

Tobias Ursprung, partner with Capvis since 2003, will retire in the course of 2012 for personal reasons. For more than seven years, Tobias Ursprung has travelled between work and family in Zurich and Hamburg respectively. Such a continued commitment, compounded by the Capvis IV fund planning, would have extended the current demanding situation for a number of years. It is for this understandable reason that Tobias decided to step down from his commitments with Capvis. We sincerely regret his decision.

We would also like to inform you about the opening of our branch office in Frankfurt. For Capvis, this is a logical step as we have already enjoyed many years of successful business activities in Germany and with this further move we will emphasize the relevance of the German market for Capvis. As Chief Representative, Georg Helg will lead our acquisition efforts in the German mid-market.

We firmly believe that with the experienced and expanded partner team, we will be well prepared for both the opportunities and challenges in front of us. Whilst the volatility in the markets is of concern to us all, and may well present some challenges for many companies, we also believe that the current environment will offer many interesting opportunities and we are therefore completing our team accordingly. Our Capvis team, now more than 20 strong, is looking forward to pursuing the opportunities ahead.
